Pop Star Ed Sheeran shares he’ll quit music if he loses his copyright trial against Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get it on!
When the Thinking Out Loud hitmaker Ed Sheeran was asked about what he would do if he lost his trial against Marvin Gaye‘s Let’s Get It On, the artist replied with an outright answer to quit Music!
For those unaware, the British singer-songwriter is being sued for copying the harmonic progression, melody, and rhythm of the 1973 classic hit song Let’s Get It On. The lawsuit was filed back in 2017, and after six years, the case was presented in Manhattan federal court.
While on the side of Sheeran, he denies plagiarising the song and shared that a whole bunch of other pop songs have used the common composition.
“If that happens, I’m done – I’m stopping,” the New York Post reports Sheeran said. “I find it really insulting to work my whole life as a singer-songwriter and diminish it.”
Regarding the case, if the Perfect Singer is found liable for copyright infringement, the trial will enter the second phase which will determine how much will the singer owes for the damages he has made.
