He was born to Patrick Carlin who was an advertising manager and Mary Beary who is a secretary. However, their parents separated when he was a child due to his father’s drinking problem. Carlin was raised by his religious mother.

George Carlin passed away in June 2008, at the age of 71 years old. How did he die? What caused his death? He died because of heart failure at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California.

The stand-up comedian had a risky heart problem which also caused him to pause in his career at some times. He had a history of his problem for three decades. George suffered three heart attacks in 1978, 1982, and 1991.

He had to stop performing due to his heart problem in 1976 and could not be regular since then. Moreover, he also had arrhythmia that required an ablation procedure in 2003 and a significant episode of heart failure in late 2005.

Talking about his career, he started his career in 1954 as he joined the ‘U.S. Air Force’  when he was 17 years old. Carlin was trained as a radar technician and stationed in Louisiana.

George Carlin started working as a part-time disc jockey while he was serving in the Air Force. Later, he joined with Jack Burns in 1959 and they performed at ‘The Cellar in Fort Worth.’

Moreover, he also appeared  on shows like ‘The Ed Sullivan Show’ and ‘The Tonight Show.’ Some of his most well-known routines were ‘The Indian Sergeant’ and ‘Stupid Disc Jockeys.’

However, he released his debut solo album ‘Take-Offs and Put-Ons’ in 1967. The album was also nominated for the ‘‘Grammy Award’. Furthermore, he got more fame from his popular routine ‘Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television,’ which became his signature performance.

Carlin’s  ‘Seven Words’ routine created controversy and he was even arrested in 1972 for violating the obscenity law. Besides, he had to stop his recording at some times and was irregular. This was because he was suffering from a heart problem.

Besides, his heart problem he also had a problem of drug abuse and alcoholism which was a barrier for his career.
