George Carlin started working as a part-time disc jockey while he was serving in the Air Force. Later, he joined with Jack Burns in 1959 and they performed at ‘The Cellar in Fort Worth.’
Moreover, he also appeared  on shows like ‘The Ed Sullivan Show’ and ‘The Tonight Show.’ Some of his most well-known routines were ‘The Indian Sergeant’ and ‘Stupid Disc Jockeys.’
However, he released his debut solo album ‘Take-Offs and Put-Ons’ in 1967. The album was also nominated for the ‘‘Grammy Award’. Furthermore, he got more fame from his popular routine ‘Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television,’ which became his signature performance.
Carlin’s  ‘Seven Words’ routine created controversy and he was even arrested in 1972 for violating the obscenity law. Besides, he had to stop his recording at some times and was irregular. This was because he was suffering from a heart problem.
